Tennis instructor volunteers are ready to go.

Share your love of tennis with local kids in the Wood River Valley

Get started by attending a free tennis instructor training for a new youth tennis program! In partnership with Blaine County Recreation District (BCRD) and U.S. Tennis Association, Idaho (USTA Idaho), we're seeking adult and high school tennis players to teach beginning tennis to 3rd-6th graders. Volunteers must be 16+.

Join us to:

  • Give back big time to the WRV community
  • Get started by attending a free USTA-hosted on-court instructor training
  • Be trained in 3 hours to teach red ball tennis to youth
  • Earn up to 13.5 service hours as a tennis instructor toward your high school student graduation requirement
  • Get ready for the BCRD Youth Tennis Program that runs 7 sessions May 12-June 4 (no May 26), M-W 4:00-5:30 P.M. in the BCRD gym and you'll be in good form to teach other camps
  • Complete the 6USTA SAFE PLAY online course before April 26 that promotes a positive safe environment where tennis players of all ages can thrive in tennis (teenagers are allowed to be "Safe Play certified" with parent approval)

Take these three steps to get ready to be a tennis instructor:

STEP 1. Register here to sign up to take the next VTI training hosted by USTA Idaho

STEP 2. Take the free "Safe Play" online course here before April 26 for the May 12 program and before June 30 for a potential summer program

STEP 3. Join this WRT VTI GroupMe here. GroupMe will be the main form of communication throughout the Youth Tennis Program. Download and set up your GroupMe account today!

Ask about the next instructor training June 23, 2025.
