Based on the research, we know the grim reality that nearly one in three children in the US are overweight or obese, one in three children are physically active every day, 17% of children care for themselves every day after school, and 30% of children raised in poverty do not finish high school. Those are the facts.
We also know that tennis helps kids' brains develop. There is proof that kids get better grades, are better behaved, say they will attend college, are more community minded, and more well-rounded. Those are also the facts.
Discover your passion for teaching tennis with us. Join our community of players and volunteers and enhance your teaching and coaching skills on the court. First thing's first. Get started to become a volunteer by attending a USTA-hosted on-court "Train the Trainer" (TtT) session.
With a USTA membership, take the USTA SAFE PLAY online course here that promotes a positive safe environment where tennis players of all ages can thrive in tennis.

The program keeps kids active, and engaged in their communities. It activates their brain. Kids get tennis instruction in the gym or on a tennis court and then moves them to their desks ready to learn to get academic tutoring. The program works with local underserved primary and secondary schools in the Wood River Valley.
Sports improve physical and mental health at any age and studies show that starting at an early age is critical to their success. The program can be tailored to elementary, middle or high school students, and set up as an after school or summer program to keep kids active, to keep them learning, and for them to gain confidence.
Give someone the gift of tennis, or some of your old gear. Donate used racquets, shoes that don't quite fit, a bag that you have two of, and tennis clothes to those who want to play and need a little help getting started. If you have time, volunteer your time on the court to get kids and adults playing tennis. If you have funds, donate toward a scholarship for kids.
